What it is
If you work under an employment contract for a Georgian company, you can obtain a work residence permit. Since 1 March 2026 you first need a work permit for this. We obtain the work permit, collect the documents from your employer and file the residence permit application together with you.
A work residence permit is issued to a foreigner who works in Georgia as an employee or is self-employed and has obtained the right to work. The employer must carry out real activity, and the working conditions must meet the requirements set by the government.
If you work as the director of your own company (LLC), this option may also fit — we will check the conditions for your case.
Who this is for
- Employees of Georgian companies with an employment contract.
- Foreign directors of their own LLCs in Georgia.
- Employers arranging residence permits for their foreign staff.
Conditions for a work residence permit
The agency checks both the employee and the employer. The employment contract must comply with Georgian law and be signed by both parties. The company must have sufficient turnover — as a rule, 50,000 GEL or more per year for each foreign employee — and the salary must meet the set minimum. The exact thresholds change, so we check them on the filing date.
The work permit is the first step
Since 1 March 2026 a work residence permit is issued only to people who hold the right to work. The work permit is obtained first, and only after it is approved is the residence permit application filed. We guide you through both stages.
Documents from the employer
Some documents are prepared by the company's accountant: turnover details, tax reports and proof of salary payments. We give the employer a clear list and, if needed, contact the accountant directly.
What a Georgian residence permit gives you
- Living in Georgia without visa runs or leaving every 365 days.
- A foreigner's identity card (binadroba) — the resident ID card.
- An electronic signature and access to public services on my.gov.ge.
- The option to bring your family on the family-reunification ground.
- Applying for visas at embassies in Georgia as a resident.
- A path to permanent residence and citizenship in the future.
What to do after the permit is approved
After approval you need to obtain the resident ID card (binadroba) and register at a residential address — that is, temporary address registration (propiska) in Georgia. If you do not own a home, the owner's consent is required. We help with both the registration and the card.
Extending the residence permit
To extend the permit, you must again meet the conditions of your ground or apply on a different ground — for example, switch from an IE to real estate or employment. It is best to apply early, no later than 40 days before your lawful stay ends. Extension is possible remotely, by power of attorney.
