What it is
If your IE was opened less than three months ago, the 50,000 GEL turnover is not needed yet: you can obtain a residence permit via an IE without turnover. It is issued for 6 months — enough time to build up turnover and then extend the permit under the usual rules. We open the IE, obtain the work permit, prepare the documents and file the application together with you.
A residence permit via an IE normally requires a turnover of at least 50,000 GEL over 12 months. New entrepreneurs have an exception: if the IE was registered less than three months ago and has fewer than three employees, a residence permit can be obtained without proving turnover.
This permit is issued for 6 months. It is available only if you have never held a Georgian residence permit before. To extend it you will need a turnover of 50,000 GEL or another ground.
Who this is for
- People who have just opened an IE in Georgia or are about to open one.
- Freelancers and entrepreneurs who move to Georgia and want a residence permit straight away.
- People who have never held a Georgian residence permit.
How a no-turnover permit differs from a standard IE residence permit
- No turnover needed — a new IE under three months old is enough.
- The permit is issued for 6 months instead of a year.
- A lower bank balance: in practice about 8,000 GEL instead of 15,000.
- Only for people who have never held a Georgian residence permit.
- A work permit is required in both cases.
How to obtain a residence permit via an IE without turnover
The key is to file while the IE is still under three months old. So it is best to plan everything at once: open the IE, apply for the work permit within a few days and, once it is approved, apply for the residence permit. We draw up a timeline so that you meet the deadlines.
- Opening the IE with a permanent legal address.
- Work permit: online application and video interview.
- Bank statement and tax certificates.
- Filing for the residence permit at the House of Justice.
What to do after 6 months
A no-turnover permit is issued for six months. To extend it via the IE, you need a turnover of 50,000 GEL and a valid work permit at the time of filing — a new IE usually needs 3–4 months to reach that amount. If the turnover is not reached, you can extend on another ground: real estate, employment, family reunification or study. File for the extension early, no later than 40 days before the permit expires.
What a Georgian residence permit gives you
- Living in Georgia without visa runs or leaving every 365 days.
- A foreigner's identity card (binadroba) — the resident ID card.
- An electronic signature and access to public services on my.gov.ge.
- The option to bring your family on the family-reunification ground.
- Applying for visas at embassies in Georgia as a resident.
- A path to permanent residence and citizenship in the future.
What to do after the permit is approved
After approval you need to obtain the resident ID card (binadroba) and register at a residential address — that is, temporary address registration (propiska) in Georgia. If you do not own a home, the owner's consent is required. We help with both the registration and the card.
